- It has been an eye-opener for me to see the importance of the kindergarten teacher's role
Before, I saw the kindergarten profession as a form of childcare when parents were at work. But through the first year, I have learned to appreciate the kindergarten teacher's role in supporting the child's development and learning. It has been an eye-opener for me to see the importance of this role.
For me, having worked with children and youth previously, I have also greatly benefited from having theoretical knowledge as a basis for my previous practice. I want to be conscious of the choices I make, and therefore the knowledge I gain at DMMH is important to me.
- A good kindergarten teacher can make a big difference in a child's development.
You are helping to create a safe and caring environment for the child. It is through safe surroundings that the child can develop positively. Together with the professional, pedagogical, and ethical competence, we shall facilitate so that the child is safe. The kindergarten should be a learning organization, which means that the staff is engaged in creating and sharing knowledge about how to best work with the kindergarten's goals.
It has been exciting to be a student at DMMH. I enjoy working in groups as we have the opportunity to share knowledge with each other, especially when the groups consist of students from different cultures and backgrounds.
