Exciting to meet students from other countries
15 students from Ireland, Germany, Slovakia, Belgium, Spain and France followed the two international courses offered this spring.
They've had many experiences and gained new knowledge from both the university college and each other.
Wanted to cancel
- Two weeks before I was due to travel I only wished to cancel my stay, says Rienske from Belgium. It turned out I was the only Belgian student and I was nervous about the trip. At the beginning I felt a bit lonely, but it didn't last long. My schedule soon filled.
The Irish students arrived as a group. They had gotten tips from the international students visiting DMMH last year.
- We were warned about the cold but we've not seen much of the snow everyone talks about, says Maeve Gillen. The sun happens to be shining today, surprisingly, and Frøset is full of young children in warm clothes and rain coats.
Laura Scanlon says they've learned a lot from their stay.
- We have not had much focus on risky play in Ireland. It was very interesting to learn about it, and how kindergartens operate in Norway.
Educational experience
The students have been through several weeks of practical placements, something they found useful.
- I have definetively learned much that I will bring with me home, Scanlon continues.
They have also learned a lot from each other.
- It has been very interesting to meet students from other countries and cultures, and hear their thoughts and perspectives.
The day's task has been to work with music, drama, arts and crafts and physical activity outdoors. Through two wonderful threatre performances, students brought excited children and adults into a magical world betwixt colors, birds, princesses and ponies.
The students left Trondheim at the beginning of June, and brought many experiences back in their luggage.
