Bachelor in Early Childhood Education and Care is a 3 year full-time study course. It covers a wide range of subjects in addition to Early Childhood Education and Care. QMUC offers 5 bachelor programmes in Early Childhood Education and Care.
The teaching is mainly given in Norwegian.
Queen Maud University College offers a 13 week course taught in English in both the autumn and spring semester for international exchange students.
Career prospect
The bachelor degree qualifies for all kinds of educational work with children aged 0-6 years, and with children at corresponding developmental stages, in pre-schools, schools and other institutions.
The bachelor degree also qualifies for working with children in organised leisure time activities (6 - 9 age group), and some pre-school teachers work as consultants in the public and private sectors.
The ordinary study time for Undergraduate level degree, Bachelor degree (BA) is three years, and Graduate level degree, (MA) is five years.
Queen Maud University College also offers Pre-school Teacher training for students with special needs, at present in particular for deaf students, with interpretation of lectures and group activities into sign language.
Most of our training is located at the campus in Trondheim. Moreover, some classes are located in various student regions.
The college also has part time classes using 4 years to qualify. The classes are held in afternoons and at weekends. Thereby persons who would not otherwise be able to participate in the course (due to financial situation, family obligations or for other reasons), will have the opportunity to qualify as pre-school teachers.
